At the vast majority of day care centers, handing out snacks and knowing how to keep kids from eating crayons are important skills. Many, if not all, states now require a background check to weed out convicted pedophiles.

Day care workers typically hold at least an associate's degree in early childhood education. Licensing may be required - state requirements vary. Some better centers, or for more advanced positions, you could need a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.
