What are the reasons why certain people who even follow a half-marathon or marathon training program don't lose much weight?

    Probably all the food they are consuming to fuel themselves.

    To lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you are eating. If you're following such a program, your body is going to be demanding lots of fuel. Most marathoners don't WANT to get any skinnier than they already are -- they don't need to -- so they're loading up on fuel regularly, as their bodies and running and other/exercise regimens require. You're not going to lose weight on that kind of diet.

    And yes, if you're building muscle to replace fat, you likely won't lose weight. Muscle weighs more than fat.

    Because they are already at a healthy weight, or are trading fat for muscle.

    Once a fat man, always a fat man. They don’t run the marathon to lose weight, they run the marathon so their stomachs don’t feel as full anymore and they can cram more shit down their fat throats

    Most likely because they don't adjust their diet. You can't justify working out by continuing and/or increasing your intake of unhealthy foods.
