what does it take to become an EMT? Like schooling wise, classes you have to take, any advice if going into this career field?

A degree (or similiar) in emergency medicine is required. The job is very busy and stressful 80% of the time.

Lifting obese heart attack victims down stairs. Fighting over dose patients because they really don't want to be helped. And ton of rules and regulations. All for very little money.
