Some of the songs are depressing but then again take into consideration Roger Waters didn't have the best childhood and on top of that Syd Barrett had a mental breakdown because he couldn't lay off LSD. A lot of Pink Floyd songs are angry sounding as well. They have to be one of the top five greatest bands of all time.

It's kind of hard to feel so low, when you're so high. Pink Floyd's music is psychedelic, written to a generation of people who were experimenting with psychedelic drugs, LSD, Psilocybin. etc. If you think that Pink Floyd's music is depressing, it's because you're missing a very important aspect of the music, the psychedelics. Incidentally, psychedelics and Pink Floyd may be the cure to depression.

It can be. Their first producer thought the keyboards were too dirgey. 'The Final Cut' album was very melancholy.

  • Somebody who attended the 1974 Atlantic City Pop Festival told me they are the "most depressing band ever".

Yes, until Roger Waters left, then we were left with the kinder, gentler Pink Floyd.

I think that if its depressing to you, you are already being influenced by something making you sad.

I think yes but not in a traditional sense. The words to Time kill me in an existential way.

"The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older"

When I first heard that I wanted to cry. It's so crazy to think about.

    And then there's

"You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun."

    That's really heavy.

Yeah, but in a good, introspective way.

Not my favourite band of the 1970s. I prefer T-Rex, David Bowie and Free.
