Is AuBr3 named Gold tribromide or Gold (III) bromide? If both are fine, which one is more likely to be used?

Gold(III)bromide, because it indicates the oxidation state of Gold. (Au - Aurum).

    Most likely would be AuBr3.

I see no reason to choose one or the other of the remaining alternatives which are equally good.

For a longer list of possible names, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold(III)_bromide .

(If you were submitting a paper to a scientific journal for publication, the editor would tell you which kind of naming convention to use.)

There are gold compounds used to treat Arthritis, so it might be difficult to for the compounds but they can be formed.
