Why do almost every rock/metal song have a guitar solo?

I’m really not a fan of rock music at all but every time I hear a classic rock song especially from the 80s it’s almost impossible not to hear a guitar solo. I really don’t like the sound at all especially when the guitar gets too high pitched of a sound, I hate it so much. Please please don’t judge me because I don’t listen rock music.

Because they don't have a trumpet player or a vibraphonist.

Or, well, most of them don't.

Most bands had a featured guitarist. So they featured him. Simple as that.

Every genre of music has its tropes, guitars are very dominant in rock and metal so of course it makes sense to have a solo
