Petco and Petsmart do NOT sell dogs and cats. They have rescue groups that rent space and bring in dogs/cats over a weekend to be adopted. You will need to talk to the rescue group about a certain dog and see what you need to do and what their rules are for placement.

Petco doesn't sell puppies. They host adoption events for shelters occasionally, though. You have to apply and be approved to ADOPT - not buy - a puppy from the particular shelter that is there when you find a puppy you want.

The Petco here has dogs that are up for adoption there at the store. Then on weekends they hold an adoption clinic & bring in dogs looking for homes from all over.
You would not be buying the dog, you would be paying an adoption fee if you are accepted as a responsible dog owner. The application for adoption is rather intensive & offencive to some. Many do not qualify to adopt a dog.

Why buy a puppy when there are so many in the shelters looking for homes? Puppies in pet shops are usually of a lower quality than ones purchased directly from a small breeder.

I dont believe you at all Casey---- but on the off chance cos im bored.....Dont that simple (You cant anyway eh)
You would be buying a sub standard puppymill dog if you buy from any petstore.....You can get exactly the same at a rescue: for far far less money. Ya see Casey
As for Petco they do not sell puppies either Casey me little bluefaced troll
