Do you think the purchase of Greenland for the US would benefit us? Not that Denmark is likely to sell.?

No, Hoekom, but I think the interest in it benefits the President. It keeps the public/news eye off other things going on in America.

    • We made out very well on the Alaskan purchase from Russia, and the Louisianna Purchase from France. We could do as well with this one, IF it were to happen.

Denmark either wants to keep Greenland until it becomes independent.

What would be really funny is if Mr Trump did build large hotels there and a few golf courses, then 20 years later there was a cold snap and it all got bulldozed into the ocean by a new glacier. How long would he play King Canute?

If Denmark weren't a member of NATO the US would not have a military base at Thule.

That is good planning. The US could invade Greenland and fight its own troops.

Yes but it will never happen, there are too many minerals buried under it to sell, it would most likely have a large military base built on it for US attacks on the Middle East, the locals won't like that and who could blame them?

Denmark isn't going to make the same mistake Russia did with Alaska.

It the US wants it it will have to go to war with Denmark and invade Greenland and i dont think trump is that crazy ..

Just look on a map to see the potential strategic benefits it could provide.

Denmark don’t want to sell Greenland. The population of Greenland don’t want to be sold and I’m sure that the EU which Denmark is a part of would find such a move unwelcome

Greenland would be a perfect early warning base for attacks coming over the north pole.

Amongst other things, it would give us more access to the Arctic, and oversight of the NorthWest Passage, which will be a major shipping lane if warming continues.

    • True, but look at where Greenland is in relation to a great many of the possible routes.
