Was man made from dust clay or soil?

In most Protestant bibles it says dust in Catholicism it says clay and slime in the Septuagint it says dust

Update:

In the Bible it says dust and soil but the Hebrews say it was clay

    Man was made from available materials, of course. It doesn't really matter what they were; all the necessary elements were present.

    Scriptural, it is dust. Catholic dogma is imagery, like modeling clay.

    None of those.

    We are made of mostly oxygen, hydrogen and carbon. The closest thing to "soil" that we have is nitrogen.

    Moses (the guy who concocted the Genesis fables) was just trying to do his best without the benefit of Biology and Chemistry.

  • It's based on the Jewish folk myth of golems where someone could build a man from clay and say a magic spell and have it come to life. There's a silent movie called The Golem about one.
