They were born lucky.
Why are we screwing off on the internet while others work all day in the fields? Same reason.

Royalty have always been parasitic scroungers. Why are these people still officially “royal” in the 21st century? Such an embarrassment to have such an archaic system in place. It’s not the Middle Ages!

There is a difference between an official visit, and a holiday and a lot of what the average man in the street might see as a holiday, really isn't. I don't blame any of them from wanting to get away from the gold-fish bowl however - but they have to be seen to do the official jobs first.

Official royal duties are not holidays. There are schedules of meetings and people to meet--the royal on an official ambassadorial visit is not free to do as s/he chooses. There is a purpose to the official trip. Appearing interested at meetings and activities that may not be is not a vacation.
The royals do take vacations. The Queen takes working vacations at Balmoral---she always has to do her government paper work wherever she is. Other royals also spend some time at the Balmoral estate during the summer. The Cambridges take a vacation with Catherine's parents every year at Mustique. This year, the Sussexes seem to be taking several little jaunts, which does not appear to be the wise thing to do--their mode of transportation and frequency of trips are both being criticized.

If they are not carrying out royal duties on behalf of the Queen, she does not pay them anything. So they can do as they please.

The worst ones are the lower tiers of the hierarchy, the local councillors, town twinning trips which are really holidays, party after party with excuses it's for some fundraising event, hidden expenses and so forth. Very little criticism for them because nobody knows who they are, do you know who your councillor and Lord Mayor are? Or the head of social services in your local council who gets paid more than the Prime Minister and doesn't care about his (mostly) shambles of a department? The Queen presides over them technically but I bet she doesn't know how bad they are or doesn't care, one or the other. The more known people are more careful but almost unknown local bosses are the worst pisstakers.

They need frequent holidays from the holiday lifestyle.
