I'm not American, but why is the star spangled banner so beautiful?

    The tune is taken from an old English drinking song.

    I don't know but it's a challenge to sing it correctly, and I think that is good.

    It's not. It's just the tune of an older English song by John Stafford Smith (1750-1836) called "To Anacreon in Heaven", or "The Anacreontic Song" in c. 1773.
