What happens if someone’s pulled over in CA for whatever reason and they refuse to give license insurance etc? Will they be arrested?

Update:

And if I may ask, what will someone be charged with if they refuse to show license? Is it illegal to refuse to show identification?

This depends on what city you're in because different PDs have differing policies on this. In L.A. you'd likely be told to call a friend to come drive you and your vehicle home.

Yes, you can be arrested until you are identified if you refuse to produce a drivers license.

If you refuse to show insurance, you will probably just get a ticket for failure to have insurance.

They'll be issued a ticket for failure to provide proof of insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without a license. These can all be fixed in court but still come with about a $30 fine (for each offense). If the person cannot identify themselves for the ticket, they'll be taken to the police station and held until there's some means of identifying them can be found, and if they're uncooperative about identifying themselves, they'll be arrested for failure to identify, which is a criminal charge while all those other offenses are merely infractions. The whole time they're down at the police station, their car will be towed and they'll have to pay for towing and impound fees.

It is an infraction to not have your drivers license with you. You'll still need to identify yourself though (tell them your name, date of birth, address, etc so they're able to pull up your license). If you flatly refuse to identify yourself, that's a criminal charge which can result it multiple days in jail and a criminal record.

There should be ZERO requirement to have car insurance because the only thing that can happen is you injure or kill someone with your car. It's like, well you know, owning a gun; no insurance required.

Car can be impounded and reported stolen if you have no identification or registration. Yes.

In CA if you refuse to provide a driver's license you can be arrested right then and there.

That rule doesn't apply to providing insurance however.

If you live in a city run by leftists probably nothing.

People openly crap in the streets, and no one seems to care.
