Absolutely. It's informative and terrifying all at once. It was very well done.
We watched all of it in one night and never dozed off once.

Yes, it's a very good drama although it overstates some of the risk from Chernobyl and some of the actions which the Soviets took to stem the damage in the aftermath (for example, there's a scene where three guys have to go into the reactor to do something and it's implied that they all died soon after, but two of them are still alive and the third lived into the 21st century).
The main character is a Soviet nuclear engineer, played by Jared Harris, who is called in to advise on the clean up measures. Other main characters include a party official who is in charge of the clean up and the wife of a fireman who responds to the initial explosion. It does a good job of documenting the problems they faced in the aftermath, including the bureaucratic disinclination to admit how bad the situation was and the desire of those involved to shield themselves from blame. In one episode they give a pretty good explanation of what went wrong to cause the reactor to malfunction.
