How much do tow truck operators make an hour?

    Whatever their boss pays them. Many drivers don't earn "hourly pay". They are paid based on how many miles they can drive in a day.

    if you're talking about the 18 wheel drivers you see on the road most of them don't get a hourly wage but get paid by the mile. all depends on the company they work for

    Depends on contracts, hookups (tows), and region.

    Some work for a government agency or a major company. Some are independents. Some run big rig recovery, some tow only cars and vans. Some have flatbeds, some have booms.

    There is no set hourly rate. Weekend and night operations might pay more.
