I dont know, Years ago we had a family budgie that we called Joey, then when he laid an egg, we changed it to Josephine!

At early adulthood the females have a cere( above the beak) that is "fleshly" colored tanish, whereas the males are blue, the males generally will talk up a storm(not always). When budgies are real young, the "cere" may not have coloring to it, so sexing isn't obvious yet.
