No, you cannot choose who you're attracted to. The only choice you have is whether or not to act on it, and I see no reason you shouldn't engage in romantic relationships or sexual activity with other consenting adults.

Are you straight? When did you make that decision? Of course, you didn't because we don't choose our sexuality.

It's not important whether it's a choice or not. But I would say it amounts to something, like heterosexuality, which follows from a choice about something else which seems to be unconnected during childhood and then develops into sexuality.

The research thus far tends to reject the "born this way argument" because 1) while there are are likely certain bio-markers in the brains of homosexuality, we cannot use these markers to successfully predict whom is a homosexual- ergo, these markers might be biological changes being caused by homosexuality as opposed to a biological state causing homosexuality. 2.) Further, we have mapped the entire genome, and are still unable to identify the "gay" gene- thus tending to prove that being gay is not genetically influenced. Mainstream psychology has tended to prove that human sexuality is a "learned behavior" that the individual learns based upon feedback from the society in which the individual exists, with those closer to the individual usually exerting more influence. This is because an individual's normative, social, cultural, educational, and environmental characteristics all moderate the sexual drive. What we learn is not necessarily a choice though it can be. (we can choose whether or not to reject what we learn at the time we learn it.)- but acting on what we have already learned IS ALWAYS a choice. (For example although you have certainly been trained to use the toilet, you can still actively choose not to use the toliet and crap your pants.) Therefore, engaging in homosexual behavior is always a choice.

Who you have sex with and who you're attracted to are different concepts.

Ignorant people will say that homosexuality is a choice. However all scientific evidence support the idea that it is a biological condition and completely involuntary.

Goint back to genes, those are subject to changes and damages overtime. Even identical twins get slight diferences as they age. A few examples; more pimples, the eyelids form a diferent shape, lips are diferent hue.. Biology isnt as clearcut as you seem to think it is, Tor

Sexual preference is not a choice. Acting on it usually is though.

No. Why would anyone choose to be persecuted, imprisoned or even executed? It is part of the normal range of sexuality in humans. It is found in hundreds of species of mammals and birds including all the primates. All studies have shown it to be beneficial to the survival of the species which is why it is not selected against by evolution.
