How long does it usually take for a model to receive her pictures from a photographer?

The answer by Steve P seems to cover most possibilities. By "model" I assume you are an aspiring model who has asked a photographer to shoot a set of photos for you portfolio.

It depends upon the package being produced by the photographer. You need to ask this question of the specific photographer. With that said, 2-4 weeks should be enough time.

There is no standard time. Did you not have this discussed with your photographer beforehand? What do you mean by "receiving pictures"? Digital files straight out of the camera? A small amount of retouching on the photos? An extensive amount of retouching? Only digital files or actual prints?

There are too many variables to give an answer. If you feel the time is becoming excessive, (more than a couple of weeks), then you are going to have to have this talk with the photographer. Did you have no contract signed by you and him / her that spells out exactly all such details? If not, I have the feeling you did not have a "real" photographer, but instead someone with a camera trying to act like a photographer.
