why do Native American communities, from the arctic inuits to North America all the way to South America usually have poverty issues?

Update:

the Inuit communities in northern canada suffer from heavy poverty, same can be said with natives in North America with depressed communities in the reservations.

even in central and South America. the native peoples in those regions are usually very poor as well

Land and wealth used to go hand in hand and when your land is taken from you you often no longer have the means to support a nice lifestyle.
