Will atrophy set in when I turn 40 soon?
I'm worried if I don't keep moving.
But, I like to do things like read, eat lots of chocolate and watch tv. It helps me digest and relax.

It's normal to lose muscle mass after 40. Ir's also important to exercise to mitigate this to avoid serious problems with age. Even light weight training or resistance training will help, as will simple exercises like walking.

As you get older it becomes more important to keep up with strength training and nutrition. I have had no loss of muscle so far at 62. The problems begin when arthritis or other illness or injury interfere with strength training.

Keep your weight down and try to walk at least 15 min a day
