Why do they say gardeners have got green fingers when their fingers aren't green?

    I believe the expression is... having a green thumb.

    because everything they grow is green

    Because good gardeners always dye their fingers green, which fools the plants into thinking that they're being tended to by another plant, when it's not. No. It's really a human being doing the tending, with his or her fingers painted green, the silly sods.

    t's just a saying m8, It's like when somebody is caught stealing something they say that they've been caught 'red-handed' even though their hands are actually blk.
