John Carpenter's The Thing (1982). Although it's not actually a remake of the 1950s movie "The Thing From Another World," it's just a better adaptation of the short story "Who Goes There?' than TTFAW was.

    Some other favorite horror remakes:

    The Blob (1988)

    The Fly (1986)

    The Hills Have Eyes (2006)

    My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009)

The House on Haunted Hill (1999)

Evil Dead (2013) was a decent remake of the original.

It's hard because I find remakes not the same. The omen was brilliant but the remake was so predictable and it made it difficult to get into because you knew what was going to happen. Favourite if any would be IT but even that's pushing the limits.
