Why do so many people not understand racism?
There are so many people who think being called racist is just a personal attack to silence freedom of speech. Why are so many right wing people incapable of seeing how blatantly racist they are and it's a valid criticism of their beliefs and policies? Especially Trump supporters. They're SUPER racist yet think they're not even remotely racist. How do they lack self awareness?

Because racism is just a problem amongst many other prejudices that is just emphasized.
They just don't care about the slurs that they get called as they could also be called a sexist which is just as bad as a racist but it isn't emphasized and people don't whine over it. They could be called a classist as they don't hang with people of different classes but that isn't emphasized.
When the race card is thrown they just don't care.

first: right wings ask the same question of left wings. both have opposing view points yet ask the same questions about each other. when it comes to racism, there are racists on both sides, and both handle it differently. right wingers believe that left wingers are SUPER racist who lack self awareness but dont see themselves as remotely racist. i know people wont like that but that is what it is.
second: calling anyone a racist is a personal attack when you dont have proof. freedom of speech covers racist comments no matter how much it sucks. right wingers (much like left wingers) understand and are aware of what racism is and honestly disagree that their valid beliefs and policies are NOT racist. Especially Trump supporters who vary in all aspects, parties, race, etc.
so that question leads no where but to where it came from, because the only way to answer it is to asked that about yourself. and maybe later to understand that race is only a social construct. and that TRUMP and his supporters are HUMAN like you and me. they are only human no matter how much you or anyone else hates them.

You hit the nail on the head when you say people lack self awareness. That is a fact, for many people, for a variety of issues. My boss once complained about a co worker who she felt talked too much. Much too much.
She rivaled him, word for word, on the blabber mouth scale so go figure.

When you call people racist for literally anything regardless of whether or not it's racist, people stop taking it seriously. For example, you calling people racist just for supporting Trump when there are plenty of Black/PoC Trump supporters who clearly don't hate themselves.Source(s): liberal who is not pro-Trump, but sick of all the SJW nonsense

I think you're just playing the blame game.

You're the one who lacks self awareness, they are many people being labeled racist only because they have opinions that some others do not like and have no legitimate counter arguement, so they will label them as racist in an effort to silence and or if a person does not display servile deference to the opinions of people of other races, no matter how idiotic, then they can be labeled racist. And labeling people racist because they support a democratic choice you don't like is an attempt to take away freedom of speech

The hypothesis that humans come in races, and the hypothesis that eugenics work, have been debunked together around 1950.
Apparently many haven't gotten the memo

The interesting thing is this. A lot of people will say "get over it, stop being so sensitive, stop being a snowflake". But the minute that you hint that they might have even said something racist, they themselves become some of the most sensitive snowflakes on the planet.
