What kind of spider is this? Location Northern California. Looks like a black widow but doesn't have the red marking on the belly.?

    That is indeed a female western black widow, just very young yet and not molted to the traditional colors. A look at the bottom of the abdomen, that nefarious red hourglass should be present, or at least visible signs of it.

    Looks a lot like my last widow when she was young.
