For every $2.50 she invested, she got back $9.00.

When she closed her account she got a total of $108.00 .

Hence she had invested $30.

Is that 108 the total with ammount invested? Or ammount from just the $9 thing?

(108÷9)×2.50 = $30

Not much to make a living

Also, cross multiplication.

(2.50/9.00)=(x/108.00)

Not sure how much SF you need
