More information needed. Are the fan and light a unit or separate? On the same switch?

Open the fan and unplug the connector  and then replace the cover.

Do you turn power off first?

The wiring comes from the switch. Find the switch, turn off the power to the circuit, remove the cover, remove the wire from the switch for the fan. Put a wire-nut on it. Close it up. Turn on the power. Watch for sparks and smoke. Done.

Wire it to a terminal block, don't leave a hot wire flapping about

If you can reach the fan the often you can just pull the cover down, and the look inside and see the fan is connected by a plug and receptacle. Just reach in and unplug it.

You can see the plug 7 seconds into this video.

Adjust the timer to zero if it has one, if it doesn't just open the unit move one of the wires to a blank terminal on the connector block.
