Almost certainly it is true. The character Prince Phillip was only ever created for the 1959 Disney film and this part of the script was developed pretty much at the time the Queen came to the throne in and appointed her husband Philip to be a prince.

    According to IMDB, yes.

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053285/trivia

Disney Fandom also says that Philip inspired the name because he was one of the few princes known by writers and animators.

    https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Prince_Phillip

He was named after Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, since he was one of the few real princes familiar to the animators.

    Wikipedia also says yes:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleeping_Beauty_(195...

The prince was given the princely name most familiar to Americans in the 1950s: Prince Phillip. Named after Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh..

The original version of Sleeping Beauty was first written down by an Italian author named Giambattista Basile, who published a book called The Tale of Tales in 1634.ย  Basile's book was used by Charles Perrault in the late 17th century when he wrote Mother Goose Tales, and by the Brothers Grimm in the 19th century. Tchaikovsky's ballet, The Sleeping Beauty, was first performed in 1890.

Prince Philip was born in 1921 long after the Sleeping Beauty story was well known.
