    Gerald Nicene back in 1801.

    Both the Nicene Creed -- so-named because it was a product of the first Council of Nicea -- and the compilation of the Bible were reactions to heresies which had arisen and had to be dealt with by the Christian Church founded at Pentecost.

    The council of Nicea

    The Council of Nicaea was the first council in the history of the Christian church that was intended to address the entire body of believers.
