Dead pixels? Broken LCD? Mine is white taking up about 2 pixels in height covering the entire bottom of the screen which doesn't affect its functionality. Still, I bought a replacement already and just keep the laptop for "experimental use".

Yours is much worse. Did it drop? It may be the LCD layers coming loose on that edge.

I'm assuming that this red bar appears as you turn the machine on? If so then the connector or ribbon cable on the machine is faulty otherwise its a driver or chip issue.

The ribbon cable for your display has either broken one of its wires or it has come out of the ribbon cable connector either on the motherboard or on the laptop display itself. if you know how to replace it yourself it's relatively easy but if you don't know how it's best to take it to a shop.
