True are false: psychiatrists are mostly about making money?

Oftentimes, people enter psychological fields because they recognize that— they themselves have mental health problems and they want to use their clients —to help enlighten, assure, or comfort them regarding their own demons. No one EVER does anything without getting something for themselves out of it. Use you as their test case? Check. Get paid for exploring their own SMI? Check.

False. However there are an awful lot of shrinks who have trouble "letting go" of their clients which after a certain point helps neither the patient nor the psychiatrist. If you dig a little you'll soon see that most psychiatrists end up in that field due to a burning desire to "heal" close relatives or themselves, but since they cannot go back in time and "fix" their nearest and dearest they throw themselves into trying to fix other people. The good psychiatrists keep this knowledge at the forefront of their minds and one of the earlier discussions you should have with them is what your exit plan from treatment is. You should always go into to therapy with a vision of what you want to be like when you leave.

Some are, but they usually don't take insurance and want to only see pretty healthy people.

    • Well, I know a psychiatrist who starts unnecessary drama. He's probably in it for the money.

    Dear questioner,

Shrinks go through hell during their training, they are

Like angels that earn their wings, all have the best

Of scientific intentions and if you don’t find them helpful

    Try a psychologist instead thanks.

    Thanks

    Very Best Wishes
