A poll was taken of Germans on this question, and most said the 30 Years War was worse. That's saying something, considering that any city or town of size was obliterated by Allied bombers.

The Peace of Westphalia that ended the Thirty Years War shaped Europe for long after - to a degree, even to today. Go across Germany & you can still see the ruins of places that were destroyed during it.

WW I was far more devastating. Far more lives were lost and many unresolved conflicts and tensions laid the foundation for WW II.

    World War I was deadlier.

Only because there were many new ways of killing that didn't exist in the 17th C.

Not an easy question. The full effects ot the Thirty Years War in part caused WWI 266 years later. It's logical to suspect that there will still be effects of WWI that we haven't fully experienced yet. These may bring changes we can't even contemplate right now.
