Achilles tendinitis hurts?

Hi all, for the last 2 or 3 weeks my Achilles tendinitis has been hurting. I notice that when I make an upward movement, the  specific area hurts. Sometimes I find myself massaging my leg and it somewhat helps.

I tried using Bengay but that didn't work. I'm not sure how this has happened as this is the 1st time.

How can I cure this as I go to the gym and often. Run regularly.

Tendon injuries aren’t like a scrape on your knee. You injure a tendon, you’ll be out of action for a while.

If it’s only pulled or something not serious, it’ll take about a week possibly two of resting and icing before it heals. If it’s actually injured it could take months to heal. But you HAVE to rest, no walking or jumping etc.

I had tennis elbow, took about 7 months to heal of resting, icing and massaging.

If it’s badly damaged you’ll need surgery to fix it.
