Military drinking age in Cuba?

My friend is getting stationed in Gitmo in a few weeks and he is 20. Online it shows that the "drinking age" in Cuba is 16. Does anyone know if the base goes by that drinking age or do they have their own regulations there on the naval base that keeps it at 21 like in the U.S.? thanks in advance!

The drinking age is 21 same as the mighty land of the good Old US of A and any Yankie military base around the world.

He will be residing and working on US property so US rules apply, not the Cuban ones. Depending on the command, some will allow those 18-20 to drink but not always. If there has been issues with underage drinking then they will not allow it. He will have to wait until he’s 21

Gitmo is a US Naval Base and is fully under US jurisdiction. It falls under Naval and (where applicable) US Federal laws. Cuban laws are not applicable to Gitmo. Any alcohol would come from Navy exchanges or food services under contract with the Navy or brought in by visitors, contractors, or other personal there that support the Gitmo mission.

The US military base on Guantanamo Bay IS NOT subject to Cuban law, anymore than the basement of the Chinese embassy is subject to US law.

21 on or off base. Rules changes a couple of years ago due to excessive incidents involving alcohol and under 21s OCONUS
