Why is it that my grandfather is Black but I am White?


My grandfather: Very dark skin, Kinky Afro style black hair, African Facial features

Myself: Very light skin,  straight brown hair, European facial features

    Because he got with a white woman, had your parent and then your parent got with your white parent.

    Because passing on genetics is not a mixing of paint but a lottery. A parent can only pass-on 23 of his/her chromosomes to a child (s)he makes.

    Your parent simply didn't pass on the chromosome with the recipe for black skin to you, but the equivalent chromosome (s)he got from his/her mother
