Native English speakers, could you please help me with these issues?

1, Does it make sense to say:

"I read the headline, but I didn't read THE BODY OF THE NEWS."

2. And how about :

"I read the headline, but I didn't read THE NEWS STORY."

    #1 is awkward. #2 is o.k., but the word news is unnecessary.

    It seems more normal to say option 2, but no all caps, its intimidating.
