Is 0.50 percent equal to 0.5 g/mol or 0.50 g/mol?

neither
.. (1) 0.50% is a % whilst 0.5 g/mol and 0.50 g/mol are molar masses
.. . .. %'s are very weakly related to molar masses
.. (2) I seriously doubt you'll find any substance with a molar mass = 0.5 g/mol
.. (3) 0.50 has 2 sig figs.... 0.5 has 1 sig fig... 0.50 has 2 sig figs
.. .. . is there an operation you're doing and trying to find sig figs?

Maybe yes, maybe not. Not enough information to tell you how many g/mole is 0.50 percent.

Percentage and molarity...
Are you asking about the significant digits, because there is no way to relate the amount in grams per mole of an unknown substance to a percentage. Grams per mole is the units of molar mass, but could be related to other measurements.
0.50% has two significant digits
0.5 g/mol has one significant digit
0.50 g/mol has two significant digits

If there are two significant digits in the question, there should be two significant digits in the answer. 0.50% has two, so 0.50 (with two) is the correct choice.
