Ahoy Sailors, what is 'sea and anchor detail' ?

    Been sailing since 1993 and I've never heard of it. Anchor watch is basically a roving watch where we have to call in how the ship is riding in respect to the anchor every 30 minutes, but no idea what anchor detail is.

    That refers to the condition set on a ship when it is entering or leaving an anchorage. 

    So that involves the coordination of the navigation team, line handlers, winch crew, helmsman, receiving and disembarking the harbour pilot, and the crew detail assigned to the bridge, plus all the necessary lookouts. That’s not necessarily a complete list as different vessels and different anchorages will impact the operation.

    The “detail” basically refers to all crew assigned to any particular task, in this case all of the extended operations associated with dropping anchor and raising anchor.
