What book would be torture for you to have to read?

For me it would be lord of the rings

I've read a lot of books an haven't suffered any torture. A few books I didn't quiet understand, but it wasn't painful.

    I couldn't get through Hemingway's A Moveable Feast.

I haven't considered any book to be painful to read(once that I have read), only if it requires a lot of deciphering.

But not all books come with explicit meaning, but instead, are implicit.

Reading a book should do with how relevant it is to you, personally.

If not the case, then it would seem like an excruciating read.

In fact, I don't even know myself.

I can only really answer that for books I have already read.  So I would say, "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles.  I've read it and can say with authority that I hated it.

I have learned, though, that I can't safely assume a book will be terrible.  I dreaded having to read Melville's "Billy Budd" because of the bad press that his writing is long winded and boring.  Billy Budd was actually pretty good.

I tried to read Das Capital but it was torture. Only got past 4 pages.

Lord of the Rings is SO good. I'd have a hard time with the Twilight series. I'm just not interested in vampires, werewolves and all those weird creatures.
