Why are humans as a species less inclined to have offsprings?

A lot of people says they never want to have children, why is this so? Is it because we have cool gadgets and tech? Where as a lot of other primates are quick to mate when matured.

Sex =/= desire to have children. Animals have no choice because they don't have birth control. We do. That's the only difference.

Some humans are smart enough to understand that there's enough humans on the planet as it is.

Thanks to contraceptives we know how to mate without making (too much) offspring

As a species, we have become very selfish. You're right, many people don't want children because they don't want the hassles. Unfortunately for them, they also miss out on a richer life.

Other primates follow their instincts. Humanity is, through its egoism has been able to go against nature. They have yet to understand that we have a higher purpose here.

The thing is that most animals don't think about offspring when they mate: they just do it for fun or because they're in heat. That was also the norm in most human societies before they invented contraceptive methods.

In many cases pregnant mothers can't take care of their offspring because of unfavorable environmental conditions, which results in a waste of resources (being pregnant is physically exhausting for the mother).

Someone pointed out that a bear is not going to say to itself that I am going to mate because I want to be a mother. Animals simply do not know that they are going to have offspring if they mate. Instead they have been shaped by evolution to reproduce. Their hormones drive them to seek sexual intercourse because it is pleasurable and it is good for their individual fitness.

Humans are perhaps the only species to know that we will have children by having sex. We are smart enough to know what will happen in the future as a consequence of what we are doing in the present. We know for example if we sow seeds, we will be able to harvest a crop later and feed ourselves with the plants. Our closest relatives, the chimpanzee, cannot make the connection between sowing seeds and having food in the future. We also know that we can make cheese and wine by preparing milk and grapes a certain way but chimps have no idea that these things can be done either.

Since human males and females both provide parental care, and since rearing children can be painful and hard work, some people have decided that they do not want to have children. Nevertheless we have the instincts to engage in sex, just like bears, and when humans have sex, lots of the hormone oxytocin is released and it makes us feel good when there is a high level of oxytocin in the brain. That is why people have sex even if they may not want children. Since the invention of birth control, people can choose to have sex, and they can avoid being parents if they choose to do so.

Human beings are the only animals capable of considering the consequences of procreation. Also they have television and the internet to distract them.
