what is petitioned non citizen? is it different from sponsored noncitizen?

    "Non-citizen" is a funny way of saying "immigrant", but yes, they are different, but probably no difference in rights or anything. A petitioned immigrant is someone who petitioned the country itself to let themselves in. A sponsored immigrant is someone who was invited by someone already in the country, like by a citizen or another immigrant already in the country. It makes no difference how they entered in the end, it's just something that the immigration authorities use an internal category before they enter the country.
