Is the Earth's crust anything like pie crust?

    CRUST (verb ) to form  into a hard outer layer ..

    .. I suspect  that is why PEOPLE use the word CRUST as  description  terms of the Earth and a PIE

    Yes. If you dig down and get some of earth crust you can make it into a nice bread. I like to add butter to mine. BUT it is NOT as flaky!
