Is it possible to make a "circulation cut-off" permanent?

I have the habit of crossing legs. I feel my foot and ankle gets numb after a few minutes. I was curious about the case, so I did search and I found crossing leg, can result a cut in the circulation of "Peroneal" nerve.

So, I'm more curios about that. Can this become permanent? I mean, how that's even possible a limb goes paralyzed forever by a bad habit like crossing legs...

When my grandmother was in hospital, for ladies problems, the nurses on the ward "fined" anyone for sitting crossed legged. Its bad for you - causes varicose veins, spikes in blood pressure and its not good for your posture. Don't think the varicose veins thing is right, but the others are.
