Why has "Best Answer" been changed to "Favorite Answer" on YA?

We can only guess since changes are never announced here. The best guess is that since it's not uncommon for an OP to select an answer that is incorrect or has nothing to do with the question asked, that 'favorite' is more appropriate, since many answers awarded the 10 pts are, by far, not the 'best'' (most correct or helpful) answer to the question that was asked.

Because it was yet another suggestion board suggestion.
Many were complaining that sock puppets were point gaming, and awarding "BEST" answers to total gibberish, or worse, racist stuff.
It was argued, that "BEST" answers are rarely the "BEST" answer.......but merely the "Favorite" answer of the asker.
Once again, Yahoo listened, and apparently took action.
Now, it's "Favorite Answer".....instead.
so instead of a BA......you get a FA. But after 14 years here, people are still saying "Best answer" . Old habits die hard.

Because a lot of people choose an answer simply based on whether the answer is what they want to hear, reinforcing their own beliefs, not whether it's actually the right or best answer to the question. God knows I've run into this little detail a myriad of times.

It would make sense though, as some idiots assign "best answers" that clearly are wrong

Yahoo probably likes the New Wording Better in the New Format

It may not be the 'best' answer but it is the asker's 'favourite' answer.

To be politically correct. The answer which is picked as the favorite might not always be the most accurate answer but the person that picked it likes it so it's the favorite answer not necessarily the best answer

Yahoo changed it from best answer to favorite answer because the asker is only looking for answers they want to see or agree with them. Half the time the answer that was picked as the best answer was just a troll point gaming.

We don't know. Perhaps because it's a more accurate description -- especially when it's a P&S question.

I think that's because a lot of "best" answers are downright inaccurate ...at least the ones I choose are.
