At the risk of sounding rude, why did you end up becoming a teacher?

    Yes, it seems correct, but the introductory clause adds nothing because simply asking why a person chose a particular career (like teacher) does not in any way seem rude.

    A sentence like "Why did you end up becoming a teacher?" is fine and isn't rude. When you tell them you are going to be rude, then it is rude.
