is it weird that no democrats signed on sponsor to a bill making child mutilation a federal crime ?

It was sponsored by 6 republicans.Eventually ONE dem congresswoman did,but thats all,and only after more than 125 republicans either endorsed or co sponsored it.Would they really rather pander to radical muslims than protect little girls from having their genitals sliced to ribbons ? Usually with a piece of broken glass or a simple razor blade without any medical personnel being present ?

The article in the link already references the Commerce Clause, which is the issue.

Legislation for such things would need to come from the state level. It would be an overstep for the federal level.

No, it's not weird that no Democrats signed on. Democrats understand the rule of law. Republicans under Trump are trying to establish a monarchy. And that type of law occurring at the federal level would be an unconstitutional power shift.

The only weird part is that you assume there isn't already a law on the books addressing this issue, and instead it is solely a republican idea to make it law.  And to present it in the manner you do only serves to fit into your anti Democratic Party narrative.  A lot like Fox News.

As evil as the practice is, that doesn't necessarily mean it should be a FEDERAL crime. The structure of the Constitution of the United States of America grants the Federal government ONLY those powers actually granted by the Constitution. Everything else is left to the states. This issue isn't a Federal issue.

Note: I have NEVER voted for a Democrat to hold any office in Washington DC.

I have no idea, is there a poison pill in the bill?

Where are you getting 125 republicans either endorsed or co sponsored it. Certainly not your link. 6 Rep's  co sponsored it.

Why has the Senate not taken it up? We also know Rep's are blocking the Violence Against Women Act from being renewed.

    Update

Abortion is NOT violence against women, it is a choice in the US.

They are very supportive of foreign nationals, even when the activities are they a risk to health. Fifteen years ago, this would not have been tolerated in America. Some democrats have become ashamed of our country, or anti-American. Many are socialists. They do not seem to be aware of Cuba, the USSR, or Venezuela. They seem to be in an angry alternate universe.

Muslim belief is that Allah only created women to make babies and thus came female circumcision.

I think all the Jewish money floating around in the Democratic Party May be a cause for this. We all know Jews orally circumcise their children

So it would ban circumcision? Or does it not matter when boys have their genitalia cut?

So a federal ban on FGM was passed in 1996 and was declared unconstitutional last year, why not fight that case instead of another ban?

I believe the mental illness that causes liberalism in the first place precludes liberals from natural affection. It causes them to see absolutely everything through a political prism, and they would prefer the mutilation of a million children to offending one voting muslim.
