How's job security for teachers in Ontario and British Columbia, Canada?

Hi. I'm a teacher in New Zealand. I have a permanent job here and job security here is very good. But I'm thinking of teaching in British Columbia or Ontario, and I heard that your employer can fire you without giving a valid reason in like one week? Does it apply to teachers as well? Thanks.

Update:

Is it a bad idea to move to Canada from New Zealand?

Teachers in Canada, at least those who teach in the public school system, have a union and a contract. There is no way in the world to fire a teacher who is a union member without very good reason. I don't know what the deal is with teachers in private schools.

Well, for one thing, there is no chance of you coming to Canada to live without qualifying as an immigrant here. Until you accomplish that, your questions are premature.
