Question about the Amazon Echo?

How much less can you do with the Echo dot than you can with the full Amazon Echo? In other words, what can't you do with the Echo dot that you can with the main Echo?

The main difference between the echo and Echo Dot is the speaker: The Echo Dot is essentially the top portion of the regular Amazon Echo, without the beefy speaker underneath it. Instead, The Echo Dot is designed to be hooked up to a set of external speakers.

It does everything the full size version does.

What it’s not so good at by comparison is playing any audio content. It’s still fully usable for that, but the larger speaker in the full sized Echo does a far better job of projecting the sound and has a better sound quality.

Search on Amazon for “refurbished echo”. They’re just as good as new but can save you quite a bit of money.

Basically, the only difference between the two devices, other than size and cost, is sound. If you're just looking to be introduced to Alexa, you'll be fine with the Echo Dot. It has all the smarts of Alexa in a small speaker. ... All in all, the Echo Dot is an ideal choice for most people.

Except the main one is £59.99 and the dot is £24.99. How can that be?
