it's not an ideology. It's a (mostly correct) analysis of the capitalist society, and a (non-correct) prediction of what will necessarily happen

No. It may look very attractive on paper to some people; in fact, it does. But it's impracticable in real life, partly because it doesn't take human nature into account.
Attempts to implement it for real have failed. It's had to be imposed by draconian force, which can't last, or else it's had to be heavily modified.

(1 Corinthians 3:19) For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, for it is written: “He catches the wise in their own cunning.”

Considering that it has been tried 39 times and failed every time, I would say that it is not. Unless your aim is totalitarianism, the destruction of culture, and crippling of economies. Generally, Marxism takes a strong economy with many opportunities for social mobility and turns it into a third world country within a decade.

Marxism is the culmination of leftist political thought. It is rooted in emotional thinking not objective thinking. As an ideology it has resulted in millions of innocent deaths in Russia, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, and other nations that have viewed it as a viable alternative to Capitalism. For people who think with emotion, it is very appealing despite the past. History has shown that it is not implemented without innocent deaths and horribly bad for economic prosperity. The quality of life in Venezuela is rock bottom today as a result of Marxism. To answer your question, Marxism is perhaps the worst ideology ever.

No, Marx was flawed.
A strong state hierarchy should not replace a capitalist hierarchy, there should be no powerful hierarchical group in a transitional revolutionary period, instead we should aim for full equality and collectivisation (not nationalisation) as soon as possible. Marxism has proven on many occasions to kill revolutions and the spirit required for revolutions. Marxism creates a state (dictatorship of the proletariat) incompatible with true leftwing anti hierarchical philosophies, Bakunin warned of the red state and a new wave of oppression before the USSR.
Marx also reduced the meaning of oppression to there being two classes oppressor and oppressed which is extremely reductionist, most hierarchies work on levels, someone could be oppressed at the workplace and come home and take it out on their wife who takes it out on her children. There is nothing pure about a worker and nothing saying a worker when given power won't abuse their position. To achieve equality and a world without oppression we must recognize that all positions of power over others are illegitimate, classist by default and necessary to be destroyed.Source(s): Anarchist
