What does the number add +2.25 on a eye prescription mean?

    Depends if it's the first number. Second of three would be for Astigmatism and the third for the Axis.

    You have Plus 2.25 diopters of farsightedness. So you'd need prescription 'reading glasses'

    An “add” number is for the additional prescription for reading glasses or bifocals.  Darren, is not correct.  Had you listed your full prescription, we could have had a better overview.

    That is the strength of the contact prescription or how much it alters your vision

      It is the reading glasses part of the full prescription.
