Why cant someone just pepper spray a drug dog in the nose? Would that work?

If someone had drugs and the cops were going to get a K9. Would pepper spraying the dog in the nose work? It would stop it from being able to smell?

I dunno but I have heard about cases in the past of people using ground pepper (the spice) to throw off the scent of police dogs they were hiding from.  The strong smell of the pepper causes the dog to lose the scent trail.

Dont do it, just offer the mutt a slice of the action if he keeps his big mouth closed.

It  would work fine.  But then you would get arrested for assault and battery of a police officer - because K9 animals are considered as such.  Once you were arrested for a felony assault, they can search you in greater detail anyway.  Just don't carry the drugs, dolt.

assault on a cop is a felony and a drug dog IS CONSIDERED BY LAW A COP.

You would be arrested, and the officer would then search you incident to the arrest. You would then have not only the drug charge but a charge for assaulting the police dog.

It would be battery on a police officer if this was done.

in many jurisdictions, assaulting a police dog carries similar charges to assaulting a human officer...

Really? If you do that to my K9 partner. He'll rip you you shreds. That's in addition to receiving felony charges.

It would get you arrested. Assault on a peace officer.

    That is illegal.
