Can duct tape be used in an emergency to close a laceration that needs stitches?

Yes it could be very useful especially with a clean cloth under it

yes, but make sure its clean to not get an infection and dont use it in replace of a stitch

Duct tape is likely to have germs on it that could cause an infection in a laceration that is bad enough to need stitches. Even if you could close the laceration, when you removed the duct tape you would re-open it. Better to just wrap a towel around it and get to the ER and have them stitch it up.

It's better to secure a towel around it or a piece of cloth because duct tape is going to be really painful taking off

of course not, what a stupid question. first it will not stick to a wet surface, second it is not sterile.

It could be but that wouldn't be very smart.
Ripping it off would damage your skin and worsen the laceration.
You'd be better off if you tape a piece of relatively clean cloth to it.
